The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced education programme with final examinations, designed for students aged 16 to 19. It supports intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development and is respected by many of the world’s leading universities.
The programme includes six subject groups plus the DP core: Theory of Knowledge, Creativity Activity Service, and the Extended Essay. Through this structure, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research, and engage in service and project work.
The programme webpage (link) highlights international research showing strong postsecondary outcomes for DP students, including higher rates of university enrollment, persistence, graduation, and development of 21st-century skills.
CIS was authorized to implement, teach, assess, and evaluate the IBDP in September 2023. Students can take a broad range of subjects across language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, and the DP core.
Unlike more specialized systems, the IB structure develops both breadth and depth. CIS also notes that IB graduates can have transcripts sent directly by the IB to universities and can benefit from IB recognition partnerships with institutions worldwide.
